Knock Down Windsor
This design riffs on the definition of a Windsor chair as “a solid wooden seat that chair-back and legs are fixed into”.
The chair is ‘knock-down’ or flat pack. I am particularly interested in design for disassembly because it lends itself to repair-ability, end of life and responds to a need for high quality “heirloom” worthy pieces of furniture that are transportable.
The legs and back supports are threaded into the solid beech seat. The steam bent ash backrest pivots down, while leg and back supports are stored under the seat when the chair is not in use. They are made of Wild Service, a tree which is an indicator of ancient woodlands.
